LAWRENCE — Kansas State's Jake Wodtke said his team had been looking forward to Friday’s game against Kansas for a while.
“We like playing here. We’ve got some guys from the Kansas City area, and it means a lot to us,” the second baseman said. “We were ready to come out here and take care of business.”
The Wildcats did that and more Friday night, dominating KU in an 11-0 series-opening victory at Hoglund Ballpark.
It was the largest margin of victory ever for K-State against KU in a shutout.
“It’s a big night for us,” Wodtke said.
