Those involved in any way with Kansas football and football fans in general were shocked when Gale Sayers‘ death was announced a few days ago. Sayers had a massive impact at both the collegiate and professional levels, so it’s only right that he has a statue built at David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium.
Sayers, along with fellow Jayhawk legend John Hadl, will have their statues unveiled at Kansas’ game this Saturday against the Oklahoma State Cowboys during halftime per KU Athletics. There aren’t two Jayhawks who are more deserving of the honor, considering both are two of the greatest of all time when it comes to Kansas football.
