LAWRENCE — Ryan Willis led Kansas to the brink of a major upset, but he couldn’t quite finish the feat.
The true freshman threw a pick-six with 4:07 left in the game, ending KU’s hopes of victory in a 30-20 loss to Texas Tech on Saturday at Memorial Stadium.
What happened before that, though, was one of KU’s most encouraging signs this season. The Bishop Miege product completed 35 of 50 passes for 350 yards, which was the highest output by a KU quarterback since Todd Reesing in 2009.
KU’s defense also played its best game.
