LAWRENCE — The Big 12 basketball coaches bowed to precedent on Thursday, predicting Kansas to win a 12th straight Big 12 title in the conference’s annual preseason poll.
The Jayhawks claimed 9 of 10 first-place votes. Coaches are not allowed to vote for their own team, and Kansas coach Bill Self’s vote went to Iowa State, which was picked to finish third. Oklahoma was voted second in the poll.
Kansas State, rebuilding under fourth-year coach Bruce Weber, was picked eighth in the poll, ahead of only TCU and Texas Tech
