The Kansas men's basketball team will have an early shot at knocking off the only team with a higher ranking in the USA Today preseason coaches poll released Thursday.
The Jayhawks, ranked No. 2 in the poll, play No. 1 Duke on Nov. 15 at Madison Square Garden in New York as part of the annual Champions Classic. If KU can get past No. 12 Indiana in its opener and Duke can defeat its first two unranked opponents, the No. 1 versus No. 2 matchup would become a virtual lock.
Duke received 27 of the 32 first-place votes, while KU received one.
