The 2017 Kansas basketball season opened with a surprise in Friday night’s 92-56 win over Tennessee State. The outcome surprised nobody. On the other hand, Hall of Fame coach Bill included freshman Marcus Garrett in the starting lineup surprised many. In addition, he left star Billy Preston on the bench for skipping class. Garrett did just what was expected with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Self is the master at making the most of what is available. As a matter of fact, the Jayhawks shot the ball so well they didn’t miss Preston. They will if he isn’t ready for Kentucky.
