Sports fans far and wide turned their attention to west Texas Saturday afternoon. They wanted to see the nation’s biggest and best college basketball game. Broadcasters on several ESPN games early Saturday mentioned they were anxious to get in front of a television to catch the Kansas basketball rematch against Texas Tech. They were not disappointed with the Big 12 game of the year.
Considering the history on the line, a share of their 14-consecutive conference title, the game was far more significant than a late season grudge match. This was not just another chance for the Jayhawks to get revenge for the Allen Fieldhouse loss.
