The Kansas basketball journey in the NCAA Tournament started slow. Big 12 Player of the Year Devonte Graham missed 5 of his first 6 shots. Despite a handful of early turnovers, Penn played well early and took a 21-11 lead. Then Graham started to attack. After a tip in by the senior leader and a pair of steals by Lagerald Vick and Svi Mykhailiuk the Jayhawks were off to the races.
Graham showed the national television audience on TBS why he is a finalist for the Naismith Player of the Year Trophy. He took over the game and scored 15 of his 19 first half points in the final 7 minutes of the half.
