Johnson, Taylor vying to be Jayhawks' starting tight end

Kansas’ tight end position will look a bit different this season than it did last year, as KU will need to fill the void of current New England Patriot Jimmay Mundine who was named to the all-Big 12 second team in 2014.

The front-runners for this season’s tight end slot are sophomore Ben Johnson and junior Kent Taylor. Johnson caught eight passes for 80 yards last season while Taylor sat the season out after transferring from Florida.

Johnson’s on-field experience seems to make him the likely starter, but tight end coach Gary Hyman sees the position as more of a partnership than a competition.
