Sleepy on Saturday after spending four days in Hawaii, Kansas’ basketball players appeared re-energized on Sunday in New York, coach Bill Self said in a Sunday afternoon teleconference with media members.
“I think the state of the team is pretty good,” Self said after a busy day in the Big Apple, site of Tuesday’s 8:30 p.m. Champions Classic game against Duke in Madison Square Garden.
The Jayhawks flew through the night on Friday — after a 103-99 season-opening overtime loss to Indiana in Honolulu — and arrived in New York on Saturday afternoon.
