Kansas coach David Beaty was asked a simple question during Monday’s Big 12 teleconference: Was it more encouraging that KU remained competitive through a quarter in a 56-3 road loss to No. 16 Oklahoma or discouraging that the Jayhawks couldn’t sustain that strong level of play?
“For us, it’s a sign of progress,” Beaty said. “We’ve got to look at reality and where we really are. One of our big goals coming off what we’ve done on the road to this point is going out and starting fast.”
KU certainly did that. At one time, the Jayhawks had 97 yards to the Sooners’ 2.
