Halftime observations: Memphis 24, Kansas 13

LAWRENCE

One week after losing its season opener in excruciating fashion, Kansas trailed Memphis 24-13 at halftime on Saturday night at Memorial Stadium.

Tiger quarterback Paxton Lynch cut up the Jayhawks’ defense for two quarters, completing 14 of 16 for 217 yards in the air. KU quarterback Montell Cozart was 11 of 21 for 105 yards in the half.

Kansas built a 10-0 lead in the opening stretches of the first quarter, taking advantage of a Memphis fumble on the Tigers’ first play from scrimmage. The Jayhawks settled for a field goal after taking over at the Memphis 10-yard line.
