WACO, Texas — Frank Mason’s first half was impressive, but it still was missing something.
The senior guard had filled up the stat sheet, posting seven points, five assists, two rebounds and a steal through the first 20 minutes of play, but the line still left Kansas coach Bill Self wanting a little more.
“Why don’t you just let it go?” Self asked his senior. “Just go out there and have fun. Just let it go.”
Message received.
From then on, in the No. 3 Jayhawks’ 67-65 win Saturday over No. 4 Baylor at Ferrell Center, Mason was just about perfect.
