ESPN’s Jeff Goodman is reporting that the Southern Methodist men’s basketball team will be banned from the postseason in 2015-16 and will have nine scholarships taken away over the next three years after the NCAA determined that there was a lack of head coach control in the program.
Coach Larry Brown also will be suspended for 30 percent of his team’s games, ESPN’s Andy Katz is reporting. The Mustangs have 30 regular season games scheduled for this season, meaning Brown will miss nine or 10 games, which is similar to the punishment received by Syracuse Coach Jim Boeheim earlier this year.
