LAWRENCE — There’s an alternate universe where instead of posting one of the best games of his career against No. 2 Kansas, Texas big man Jarrett Allen is doing it in a crimson and blue uniform.
As Allen’s recruitment wound to a close in the Spring of 2016, his list was reportedly cut to three: Texas, Houston and KU. The Jayhawks were never really considered the favorite, but even several months later, after KU’s 79-67 win over Texas, coach Bill Self made it clear they saw potential in the 6-foot-11 forward.
“We recruited him hard,” Self said.
