Former Jayhawk Gary Woodland wins PGA’s Waste Management Phoenix Open

Gary Woodland is a PGA Tour winner for the first time since 2013.

Woodland, who golfed at the University of Kansas from 2003-07, shot a 7-under 64 on Sunday, moving his score to 18-under before he won a playoff over Chez Reavie at the Waste Management Phoenix Open.

With the win, Woodland made $1,242,000 and moved to fifth place in the FedExCup point standings.

A Shawnee native, Woodland shot a par-4 on the playoff hole to defeat Reavie, who birdied Nos. 17 and 18 to force the playoff. Reavie, who was born in Wichita, made a 21-foot birdie putt on the 18th hole before bogeying the playoff hole.
