LAWRENCE — You’ve heard of package deals with recruits? It turns out the Kansas football team also had one with its coaching staff.
KU coach David Beaty confirmed Tuesday that if interim coach Clint Bowen had been given the full-time job after last season, he would have left his position as Texas A&M receivers coach to join the Jayhawks as an assistant.
“Clint and I are as close of friends as I’ve got. I’d like to think it’s the same way (with him),” Beaty said. “If he would have got the job, I would have came if he’d have offered me the job.
