David Beaty hopeful QB announcement reverses course on KU football's poor starts

LAWRENCE — David Beaty hopes he’s made his last quarterback decision of the 2016 season.

The Kansas football coach, who has named Ryan Willis the team’s starter for Saturday’s home contest against TCU, is hopeful the sophomore will be able to handle all four quarters and finally put to rest the long-running battle at the sport’s most important position.

“It would be nice, absolutely,” Beaty said at Tuesday’s news conference. “We would love to be able to have just one guy playing the entire time.”

Beaty chose Willis over redshirt junior Montell Cozart, who started the season’s first four games, and third-string option Carter Stanley, a redshirt freshman who has played well in garbage time but appears to still be a distant third on the team’s depth chart.
