Bill Self named finalist for Naismith college coach of the year award

DES MOINES, Iowa — Kansas basketball coach Bill Self is one of four finalist for the Naismith men's college coach of the year award, the Atlanta Tipoff Club announced Thursday morning.

Other finalists include Chris Mack (Xavier), Tom Crean (Indiana) and Jay Wright (Villanova).

The winner will be announced at the Naismith Awards on April 3 in Houston, one day before the national championship game.

Self, who also won the award for his work in the 2011-12 season, has guided the Jayhawks (30-4) to a Big 12 regular-season and tournament championship and a top-overall seeding in the NCAA Tournament.
