LAWRENCE — If there is any silver lining hidden within the Kansas football team’s crippling turnover woes, David Beaty identified it Tuesday — but not without a small superstitious caveat.
The Jayhawks (1-5, 0-3 Big 12) have the most turnovers (22) and second-worst turnover margin (minus-11) in the nation, buoyed by nine giveaways in the team’s last two games. Only one of those nine turnovers has come via a lost fumble, though, a point the Beaty made during his weekly news conference.
“Fumbles haven’t really been…” Beaty said.
The KU coach paused. He made a fist and knocked twice on the top of his wooden lectern before continuing.
