Yost ties Herzog with 410th managerial win

Yost claimed his 410th managerial win, tying him with Hall of Famer Whitey Herzog (1975-79) as the winningest in franchise history.

"The first person here in this room that trusts in those guys is Ned," said shortstop Alcides Escobar, who has known Yost since his days managing in Milwaukee (2003 to 2008). "I play for hard for him, and I play hard for myself and my teammates."

When Yost passed Dick Howser for the No. 2 spot back on June 8, he shrugged off the credit and took time to appreciate general manager Dayton Moore for not dismissing him in what he thought could have been "five times in the last five years.
