Yordano Ventura intended to play catch on Sunday morning in the first test of his right hand, which went numb in three fingers during his start on Friday night.
An MRI of Ventura’s arm showed irritation along his elbow’s ulnar nerve, which manifested in weakness in his hand. Trainer Nick Kenney indicated this condition resulted from a buildup of fluid in his elbow. The team is hopeful that Ventura can make his scheduled start Wednesday at Kauffman Stadium.
Ventura reported progress with his hand on Sunday morning. Before he went to play catch, he said he felt better and that sensation had returned to his hand.
