The Kansas City Royals are 60-38. They lead the American League Central by a full eight games. They play 10 of their final 64 games against teams that are currently over .500 (and another 11 against teams who are exactly .500 right now). According to Fangraphs, the Royals have roughly a 98% chance to make the playoffs, and the only reason it isn’t 100% is that it’s pretty hard to have a 100% chance with more than two months left to play. Oh, and they just picked up one of the two or three best available starting pitchers to strengthen one of their few weaknesses.
