When the Royals won the World Series, there were a few days of pure euphoria before the realization that the game is a business came into focus. Alex Gordon, Ben Zobrist, Johnny Cueto, Chris Young and Ryan Madson filed for free agency while options were declined on Alex Rios, Jeremy Guthrie and Jonny Gomes. Oh and they non-tendered Greg Holland, but we’ll get to him later. The Royals had holes in both corner outfield spots, in their rotation and in their bullpen.
