Typically, it’s an award for individuals. But, the Sports Illustrated staff—correctly, to my mind—nominated the entire KC Royals team. On a group without a superstar, winning two straight American League pennants and the 2015 World Series, was a team accomplishment.
And, not only did the Kansas City Royals go from laughing stock to champions, it’s the WAY they won that captivated baseball fans across the world. No team in major-league history had overcome more multi-run leads than the seven playoff comebacks by the KC Royals in 2015.
