Volquez breaks out of funk with strong start

CLEVELAND -- Royals right-hander Edinson Volquez finally delivered like the Volquez of 2015, delivering his best performance in roughly two months as he held the Indians to one run and four hits through 6 2/3 innings in the Royals' 2-1 loss on Tuesday night at Progressive Field.

It was Volquez's best outing since July 24, when he gave up one run over six innings against Texas. He had a 7.46 ERA over his last 10 outings.

But Volquez found his command early on Tuesday.

"My secondary pitches were working tonight," Volquez said.
