KANSAS CITY -- Predictably, there was more unrest between the Royals and the A's on Saturday night.
A night after the benches cleared because of a hard slide by Oakland's Brett Lawrie that injured Royals shortstop Alcides Escobar, the benches cleared again when Royals starter Yordano Ventura plunked Lawrie in the fourth inning.
Home-plate umpire Jim Joyce immediately ejected Ventura as the bullpens and benches emptied onto the field.
The A's did not have a hit until the fourth inning when Stephen Vogt produced an RBI double. Four batters later, Josh Reddick drilled a Ventura fastball over the right-field fence for a three-run homer, making it 5-0 Oakland.
