Jason Vargas was dominant again, and the Royals exacted some revenge with their bats in a 6-0 victory against the Tampa Rays on Thursday afternoon.
One night after Tampa Bay starter Chris Archer caused a kerfuffle by plunking catcher Salvador Perez, the Royals responded by securing a series victory inside Tropicana Field. Perez ripped a two-run double off reliever Diego Moreno during a five-run eighth inning. Whit Merrifield punctuated the performance by lining an RBI single into center field and then circling the bases when center fielder Kevin Kiermaier let the baseball slip under his glove and roll to the wall.
