Sick in a good, slangy sense.
The T-Birds used 14 hits, including a walk-off grand slam by sophomore Sydney Wellshear, to mash Topeka West 18-2 in four innings Tuesday in the Class 5A regional at Lake Shawnee.
Heights heads to next week’s state tournament in Wichita undefeated at 21-0, looking to make another 5A run after placing second last season.
“When we hit it, we hit it hard,’’ Heights coach Steve Giddens said. “The whole team, they take it to heart.
“I sat and watched practice the other day and they all went to what they needed to do and focused for 30 minutes without anybody saying a word to them.
