We all know the Royals have had an up-and-down franchise history, but one thing the franchise has been able to do consistently is come up with good third basemen. Obviously the greatest player in franchise history played third, but the Royals have also had Paul Schaal, Joe Randa, Gary Gaetti, and the 2015 (and hopefully going-forward) version of Mike Moustakas. Throw in a couple of nice single seasons from Dean Palmer (1998) and Gregg Jefferies (1992) and it’s apparent third base (unlike, say, second base outside of Frank White and a couple of other guys) has been a position of strength most seasons, no matter how bad the rest of the team might have been.
