For Royals fans of a certain age, the 2003 season was the one they could point to. The ONE. The one season that showed them, just for a few months, what it was like to follow a winning team. For the rest of us, it was a reminder of how much fun it could be to have baseball be important past May 1. For all of us, it was an oasis in a vast desert of suck.
