Kennedy is expected to be activated from the DL (left oblique strain) and start for the Royals in Game 2 of the three-game series in Minnesota. Kennedy last pitched on June 29 at Seattle, where he allowed three runs in five innings in a losing cause.
In a spot-start on Thursday that also served as an audition for Minnesota's fifth rotation spot, Slegers picked up his first career win as he held the Orioles to one run over six innings. Slegers is competing for the final spot with Adalberto Mejia.
