Thousands gather downtown before parade kicks off

A huge crowd began lining downtown streets hours before the World Series victory parade even kicked off.

It was their chance to welcome home the boys in blue, and they weren’t going to miss it — even if it meant getting up early, finding a way to park downtown and standing for hours.

The crowd was so huge that thousands of others were stranded, lined up for shuttles that were overwhelmed by the turnout. Some shuttles trying to make it downtown got jammed in traffic.
