Steve Balboni’s three-run home run in the ninth inning broke a 2-2 tie, lifting the Royals to a 5-2 win over the Tigers at Tiger Stadium in Detroit.
The winning rally began when Tigers starter Walt Terrell walked George Brett to start the ninth inning.
