It’s been said that hitting a baseball is the hardest thing to do in sports. And today, with pitchers throwing harder than they ever have and utilizing data on things like spin rates and specific locations for every hitter, it’s harder than ever. In fact, sometimes it just amazes me that batters are even able to hit some of these pitchers. I don’t intend this to be disrespectful to the players because if you can hit a 95 MPH fastball or an 87 MPH slider, you have my respect. Utility players, versatile guys who don’t hit a lot have been around forever.
