The Royals recently had a nice little eight-game win streak. Winning streaks are fun. Of course, the gold standard of all win streaks is the season-ending kick that the 1977 team put together to blow open the American League West. The 1984 Detroit Tigers had a similar streak but the Tigers' streak, a 35-5 heater, was at the start of the season, which took all the suspense out of the pennant race early. The 1977 Royals, on the other hand, ran their streak at the end of the season. It was like watching Secretariat pull away at the Belmont.
