Twenty-five thousand, eight hundred and fourteen fans attended a Royals/Twins game on a cool Minneapolis evening last September. A dozen more sat in the Royals dugout, frozen not by the temperature, but by the history unfolding in front of them.
“I couldn’t move,” manager Ned Yost said. “My heart started pounding in, I think, the eighth inning.”
