The lineup managed just three hits and Michael Wacha could not close out a few key innings, as the Royals snapped a seven-game win streak with a 6-1 loss to the Mets in the series opener Friday night. Wacha gave up five runs in five innings on ten hits, earning his first loss of the year.
Salvador Perez blasted a 433-foot home run in the second to put the Royals on the board, his third dinger of the year. The Royals looked like they might get more when Mets starter Luis Severino walked both Nelson Velázquez and Adam Frazier, but Hunter Renfroe struck out and Kyle Isbel grounded out to end the threat.
