Whit Merrifield doubled in the ninth inning of Tuesday’s 9–3 loss vs. Detroit. It marked his eighth straight home game with an extra-base hit, matching a franchise record previously done by: Mike Macfarlane (July 31-Aug. 30, 1997), Hal McRae (Aug. 7–27, 1974) and Amos Otis (April 12-May 1, 1970).

Since 2010, the only American League player with a longer streak was Brian Dozier, who had an extra-base hit in nine straight home games from Aug. 9–25, 2016.
