Related Topics: Home run

Whit Merrifield was recalled from Triple-A Omaha before Tuesday night’s game vs. San Francisco. His impact was felt immediately. Merrifield hit a go-ahead solo HR in the fifth inning, his first since June 14, 2016 vs. Cleveland, snapping a streak of 219 at-bats without a homer.

He also walked in the eighth and ninth innings and singled in the 11th, reaching safely four times for the second time in his career (also, June 28, 2016 vs. Detroit).

Prior to his recall on Tuesday, Merrifield was batting .412/.432/.794 (14-for-34) with three home runs and nine RBI in nine games with the Storm Chasers, leading the Pacific Coast League in slugging percentage.
