Stat of the Day: The 10-Run First Inning

Kansas City kick started a six-game road trip with a 15–7 win in Baltimore on Tuesday, fueled by a 10-run first inning. The 10 runs are two shy of the club record of 12 runs in one inning, set on June 17, 2003 vs. Minnesota (sixth inning). Tuesday’s win snapped the Royals’ seven-game losing streak at Camden Yards dating back to their last win there on Sept. 12, 2015.

The Royals had seven runs — including four home runs — before recording an out. In the 7,834th game in franchise history, Tuesday marked the first time the Royals’ first eight batters of a game reached, according to Elias.
