Stat of the Day: Salvy’s Fourth 20-HR Season

In Wednesday’s 6–5 loss vs. Toronto, Salvador Perez hit two HR, including a two-run HR in the first and a solo HR in the fourth, to mark his fifth career multi-HR game and first since Sept. 6, 2017 at Detroit.

The homers were his 20th and 21st of the season, making him the fifth Royal with at least four straight 20-HR seasons, joining: John Mayberry (1972–75), Steve Balboni (1984–87), Bo Jackson (1987–90) and Mike Sweeney (1999–2002).

Perez is the ninth catcher all-time — six of which are in the Hall of Fame — with four 20-HR seasons (consecutive or not) before turning 29 years old, joining: Johnny Bench (7), Brian McCann (6), Yogi Berra (5), Gary Carter (5), Mike Piazza (5), Lance Parrish (4), Ivan Rodriguez (4) and Joe Torre (4).
