Stat of the Day: Royal Woes vs. Twins

The Royals matched a club record for wins vs. one opponent in 2016, going 15–4 vs. the Twins. They’ve since lost their first two games of the 2017 season in Minnesota. In addition to their loss on Sept. 29, 2016, the Royals have now lost three straight to the Twins for the first time since April 11–13, 2014.

In their two losses to begin 2017, the Royals have recorded just seven hits (three on Opening Day and four on Wednesday). This marks just the second time since the start of 2013 that Kansas City has been held to four-or-fewer hits in consecutive games (also, June 4–5, 2015), and it’s the first team in franchise history that it’s happened in the first two games of a season.
