Stat of the Day: Orlando’s Catcher Interference

With two outs and the bases loaded in a 1–0 game on Friday night in Houston, Paulo Orlando reached first base on a catcher interference. It was just the 39th such play in the 49-year history of the Royals, and the second in as many years by Orlando, who reached in a catcher interference on Sept. 9, 2016 in Chicago.

Because the bases were loaded on Friday when catcher interference was called, Orlando reaching first base advanced all three base runners, including Mike Moustakas, who scored on the play from third base (no RBI is awarded to the batter on this play).
