Mike Minor made his second appearance of the spring on Saturday, tossing 2.0 spotless innings in Surprise vs. San Francisco. Relieving starter Jason Hammel in the third inning, Minor retired all six batters he faced on three groundouts, a strikeout, a lineout and a popout.
Including his outing on Feb. 27 at Seattle, Minor has now recorded 4.0 scoreless innings this spring, retiring 12 of the 14 batters he’s faced. The left hander is competing for a spot in the Royals’ bullpen.
From the 2012 All-Star break through the end of the 2014 season, Minor was among the National League’s best starting pitchers while in a Braves uniform.
