Alec Mills — who turns 25 years old today — posted a 3.22 ERA (45 ER in 125.2 IP) in 24 outings between Double-A Northwest Arkansas and Triple-A Omaha in 2016.
He made his Major League debut on May 18 as the Royals’ 26th man in a doubleheader vs. Boston. He was returned following the night cap, but was recalled on Sept. 12.
Mills was one of seven players to make their Major League debut with the Royals in 2016, joining: Kevin McCarthy, Brooks Pounders, Matt Strahm, Hunter Dozier, Whit Merrifield and Brett Eibner.
