Jakob Junis made his season debut Tuesday in Detroit and recorded 7.0 innings (plus one batter) of shutout ball to lead Kansas City to a 1–0 win, it’s first of the season.
Junis allowed just three hits and one walk in his 7.0 innings and threw only 87 pitches (62 strikes) before he exited after allowing a leadoff single in the eighth. It was his the first scoreless start of his career.
According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Junis is the first Royals pitcher to record 7.0 shutout innings in his first start of the season since Luke Hochevar went 7.
