Rosell Herrera, in just his fifth game as a Royal, was the hero in Kansas City’s 1–0 win in Houston on Friday night, snapping the club’s season-high-tying nine-game losing streak.
In a 0–0 game in the bottom of the eighth, Herrera robbed Alex Bregman of a home run in right field to maintain the scoreless tie.
After Adalberto Mondesi singled to leadoff the top of the ninth, he stole second base and advanced to third on Whit Merrifield’s flyout to right. Then Herrera — who saved the game with his leaping catch in the previous half inning — won the game for the Royals with an RBI triple to center field.
