Stat of the Day: Gore’s Pinch Running Prowess

Terrance Gore recorded 11 stolen bases in 2016 — all as a pinch runner. His 11 steals as a pinch runner within one season are second most in Royals history, trailing only Willie Wilson, who had 19 steals as a pinch runner in 1978.

Gore’s 11 steals as a pinch runner are most in the Majors since 2003, when Boston’s Damian Jackson had 12. Nobody has had more since 1986.

All 19 of Gore’s career stolen bases have come as a pinch runner. Since his Major League debut in 2014, Gore’s 19 steals as a pinch runner are tied with teammate Jarrod Dyson for most in the Majors, and are 10 more than the next closest players, Rajai Davis and Leury Garcia (nine each).
