Alcides Escobar led off Wednesday game vs. the Cubs with a home run on the second pitch. Kansas City entered the day tied for first in the Cactus League with seven home runs.
Escobar has hit two leadoff home runs in his regular season career, both in 2015: May 9 at Detroit off Anibal Sanchez and May 29 at the Cubs off eventual NL Cy Young Award winner, Jake Arrieta.
Esky also, of course, led off Game 1 of the 2015 World Series with an inside-the-park home run — on the first pitch — marking the second inside-the-park homer in World Series history, joining Boston’s Patsy Dougherty in Game 2 of the 1903 Fall Classic.
